A Vernacular Housing Sketchbook

Ahmedabad, India

My 2008-09 Fulbright research project, ''Cultural Conservation in Traditional Hindu Housing Design,'' explored how vernacular urban homes had adapted to unique demands of the Indian climatic, social, and geographical environments. Simple historical solutions to complex contexts can still inform sustainable design methodology today. A sketchbook recorded my diverse studies, ranging from plan typologies to structural axonometric diagrams to urban spatial analyses.
